FAQ

  • What if we already have a tape backup system?
Using a tape backup system is great, however, they aren't going to last you forever. 90% of all people using a tape backup drive report having a failure over 2 years. They are great to do your full monthly backups however, when securely backing up your files on a daily basis should be done offsite and on a regular basis. Let PaBackup Inc. help you with your daily backups.
  • Onsite, Offsite - What's the difference?"
Basically, remote backups work just like regular tape backups, with one important difference. Instead of sending backups to a tape drive located locally within your system network, your data would now be sent to our secure offsite facilities to store your data until it is needed.
  • How Secure are remote backups?
Very. All files are encrypted using Blowfish or DES encryption. This is the same style encryption that the National Reserve uses for their data encryption. This type of encryption has never been hacked. Blowfish and DES encryption is done using a 448 bit encryption compared to the standard for most offsite backup services who only use a 128 bit encryption or you need to pay more for a higher encryption.
  • How long do remote backups take?
With a high-speed internet connection this service will be able to do incremental backups in 30 to 60 minutes. The backup software we use is state of the art with bit-backup technology that scans current files for changes and only updates the changes in the files once the original file is backed up. This allows the end user more flexibility and time to do what they need to do. This process can also be set up to run overnight or at a specific time to help eliminate downtime.
